   Community Assistance
Prescott has an active industrial and economic committee which is eager to assist existing and new business with site, building and financial packaging needs. Call City Hall at 715-262-5544. More information about community organizations can be found here.

Community Features
Several radio and television stations mostly from the Twin Cities area, along with Cable TV, serve the area. Regional newspapers include the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Star Tribune, which are delivered daily. The Prescott Journal covers local news. Other area papers are Pierce County Herald, River Falls Journal, Red Wing Republican Eagle (MN), and the Hastings Star Gazette (MN).

Education and Training
Prescott area residents have excellent access to job training resources, with technical instruction available at River Falls Chippewa Valley Technical College campus only 12 miles away. Other schools and colleges within a short distance of Prescott include University of River Falls, University of Minnesota and other Twin City Colleges within half-hour's drive. The West Central Wisconsin Workforce Development Board formerly known as The West Central Wisconsin Private Industry Council and the Wisconsin Job Service provide coordinated job training and development from offices in Ellsworth (16 miles).

Location
Prescott is located in Western Wisconsin's Pierce County at the confluence of the Mississippi and St. Croix River. Medical Facilities
Hospital Service and 24-hour emergency medical services are provided at the newly expanded Regina Medical Hospital in Hastings, MN (6 miles) and at the River Falls Area Hospital (12 miles). The City of Prescott's ambulance service is providing medical services and emergency service as well.

Population
According to the Wisconsin Department of Commerce, the city population is estimated to be 4,046 as of January 1, 2006.

Transportation
State Highways 29 & 35, and US Highway 10 intersect at Prescott, and several inter- and intrastate trucking lines serve the city. Regularly scheduled air passenger service is available 30 miles west at Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport. Local Service is available at Hager City (18 miles Southeast). Rail service is provided by Burlington Northern Santa Fe, running from the Twin Cities down the Mississippi and across to Chicago. The Canadian Pacific Railroad runs from the Twin Cities to Milwaukee, WI. 

Utilities
Xcel Energy provides Prescott with electricity, St. Croix Valley Gas provides natural gas and CenturyTel the local phone service. The city's water supply and sewage treatment facilities have been expanded to provide for the City's future needs. Click here for information on utility billing.
