When a snow event begins we do our best to keep the hills as navigable as possible for safe winter driving. We use a salt-sand mix to assist us in melting the snow and ice. We pay special attention to the following hills:
Pine Ridge St.
State Highway Intersections
We also pay close attention to all State Highway intersections. It is a good idea to avoid these areas if possible because this is where most accidents happen. If the snowstorm persists or in an extreme snow event, we then plow our main corridors. This assists emergency responders and also keeps the general public moving. The main corridors that we try to keep open are:
Borner St. and Pine St.
Cherry and Canton to Highway 10
Elm St. to State Highway 35
Kinnickinnic and Campbell to Highway 10
Monroe Loop out to the cemetery
N. Acres Road
Orange and Linn to Orrin Road
Walnut and Dexter St. to Highway 10
Young and Pearl to Highway 10
