We have had several residents question the smell coming from the waste water treatment plant.
The problem has been brought up to our Waste Water Treatment Plant Superintendent. He informed us that the biology of the plant has been repeatedly compromised by contaminants introduced at unknown locations.
Staff has been collecting samples at various locations throughout the system to ascertain the source. Those samples are currently undergoing testing at an accredited lab to determine the chemistry of the contaminants.
In the interim staff has increased monitoring of the plant chemistry by adding a 5:00 am and 11:00 pm check to the normal process. There has been the need to augment chemical infusion to attempt to stabilize the situation. That additional chemical is costly.
Staff is leaving no stone unturned to find the source and nature of contamination, eliminate it and restore the biology of the sewer plant to optimal condition.
Please contact City Hall if you have any questions.
