At the September 21, 2022 Prescott Area Fire Association Meeting members officially approved Chad Johnson as the new Fire Chief. Chad replaces Tom Lytle who retires after 32 years of distinguished service. Chad has lived just outside Prescott in Oak Grove Township for over 50 years. He first became a member of the Prescott Fire Department in 1993 with his primary focus to protect and serve the community. Chad also stated, “I had a couple of family members who were long time volunteers that I looked up to. My Uncle Dick Johnson was a long time(1976-1995) member of the department and retired as a Captain of the Department in 1995. Uncle Donnie Johnson was also a long time member(1970 - 1997) and served as the Fire Chief for 13 years years. I would always see them at family gatherings and their pager would sound and away they would go. The sound of the pager was and still is an adrenaline rush.” His main goal he said, “Is to continue to provide the City of Prescott and the Townships of Oak Grove and Clifton a volunteer fire and rescue service staffed by professional volunteers. It is an honor to serve those communities.” In his free time Chad enjoys hanging out with his family at the cabin, hunting and snowmobiling.
